Badminton players from all around the world are being targeted for the New Zealand Open in April.
The tournament falls in between the Australian Open and another big event in Tahiti.
Event Director Julie Carrel says there are a bunch of good players in Australia, but a large amount of the world’s best come from further abroad.
“Predominantly they’re Asians and from a wide variety of the countries so China, Malaysia, Singapore, India.
“But (in) saying that, not exclusively, so we’ll also get some of the European.”
The tournament will be a world Grand Prix event, and have prize money of $50,000.
